Our daughter Danielle now 11 years old loves to practice her figure skating and our son Shawn, 8 years old, loves to play hockey with his Dad and his friends. In past years, our neighbours and close friends, Marc and Hilary Dozois, would also make a rink in their backyard, which backs onto ours. We often joked about it being a competition to see who could get the smoothest ice.
But this last year, our friends weren't able to make a rink as they have been focused on their 8 year old daughter, Shelby, who was diagnosed with leukemia on April 1st, This past year has been very tough for Shelby and her family. She recieved a bone marrow transplant at the beginning of October, and because of this she has to be very careful about being exposed to crowds while her "new" immune system becomes fully operational. She's doing well recovering at home now, but it has meant no school and no ringette a sport she loves and has played for many years for her this season, much to her disappointment.
Thankfully, she has been able to skate on our rink and is really getting her feet under her again. It is wonderful to see her getting her strength back. And for a child who has been struggling to get her appetite back, the hot chocolate with marshmallows that are now standard fare , taste so much better when served on the rink. To see Shelby, her sister Paige, and my children out skating until we call them in for bedtime, makes it worth the extra shovelling and the freezing fingers and toes during those lonely midnight floods.

The ability to have her own small area to just play by herself is awesome. We love that they can skate any time they want, and love the ease of storage in the summer and set up in the fall. Everyone who comes over compliments the rink and we tell them about the great product and excellent service we got from you.
Thank you for everything! All 3 of our kids use it a bunch. They have a blast! My son's hands and confidence have really improved over this winter and it has really come through on his team.
It's been great fun and a total success. Residents in town can't wait to get back out on the ice again this year - for once people are actually wishing for colder weather!
It was quick and easy to assemble with a small group of people. Our 40x80' rink provided months of fun for skaters and hockey players of all ages here in Ely, Iowa! My 8 and 6 year old boys and I had it up in under an hour. It was so easy!
My 5 inch pitch in my yard was no issue. A huge success.
